Human Trafficking is reported to be the largest criminal enterprise in the world following by drug trafficking and is in the position into becoming the largest criminal industry in the world. Traffickers profit about 150 billion each year, happens to be more than Nike and Google combined. Human trafficking has also become the fast growing industry in this world. About 17,500 foreign people who are trafficked are used for the sole purpose of sex trafficking or hard forced labor. It is said that every 30 seconds, another person becomes a victim of human trafficking around the world. Organizations fighting human trafficking and slavery only receive an estimated $70-100 million to do their work. Within our own Country about 100,000 children are being trafficked per year. United States purchases more women and children for sex out of any other country in the world. United states traffickers usually target children from ages 12-14. Being that the city of Richmond has 64, 95, and 295 interstates that surround the city it attracts traffickers into doing their business within the city. Cases of human trafficking have been reported in all 50 U.S. states; anyone can be trafficked regardless of race, class, education, gender, age, or citizenship when forcefully coerced or enticed by false promises. In the U.S, has made a project called “The End Trafficking Project” help raise awareness with human trafficking. |
